laundry thief

Everyone always talks about how the dryer eats socks. I have always thought this was ridiculous... until it happened to me, well not me but sort of. So the last time I went to do my laundry, I put everything in the washer. 20 minutes later I switched them over to the dryer. Then I packed everything up and took it home. Once I got home I sat down to fold all of the laundry. After finishing all of the laundry, I found an extra sock that I suspected did not belong to us. How did I know this? Because it was a red sock (which neither of us own) and it looked like it belong to a 4-year-old (which neither of us are). I have no idea where this sock came from. So I now have a new theory about the dryer. The dryer is obviously has an eating disorder (this is evidenced by the fact that it binges on socks and then purges them into other people's loads). I instead of getting mad when things turn up missing in our laundry, we need to have compassion towards the dryer. Maybe the dryer could use some time with a therapist. Who knows, maybe a trip to rehab would do some good.
