As a child, I remember going into primary and having the primary president say that we would be having a "special treat" on that particular day in primary. The "special treat" always turned out to be a guest speaker or watching a movie. This happened quite often. And yet every time she said that we were going to have a "special treat" I always, always, always thought that the "special treat" was going to be some sort of candy or baked good. I was always, always, always disappointed.
Now that I'm a primary teacher, I refuse to ever say the word "treat" unless I am referring to something sugar-infused and lacking any trait of healthfulness. When I first became a primary teacher, I had decided that I would not bring treats every week to bribe the kids. I have now been a primary teacher for several months and have fully embraced the art of bribing children to be good in class. I usually begin the class by writing the word TREATS on the chalk board. As I have to remind them to stop chatting or to pay attention, I erase letters. If there is at least one letter left on the board at the end of class, then the kids get to have a treat the following Sunday.
I want to keep the treats to things that don't make too big of a mess but that are really easy to make on Sunday morning before church. Does anyone have any good ideas for treats that the kids will like?

treats
