i woke up to this

Why was my kitchen a disaster? Because yesterday afternoon I had the bright idea to make cinnamon rolls. I don't know what came over me, but I had most of the ingredients at home so I went to the kitchen, started the dough, and then walked down to one of the local grocery stores to pick up some cream cheese while the dough was supposed to be rising. Much to my dismay, when I got home an hour later (I did not take me an hour to walk to the grocery store across the street from us... I went to the one further away from us), the dough had hardly risen. I was hoping it would still be usable so I made a couple of small rolls to try it out. It was a dud.

So I googled reasons dough wouldn't rise. I thought either I had kneaded the dough too much or I had killed the yeast with milk that was too hot. I had told Luis that there would be cinnamon rolls when he got home from work so I decided to start batch number 2. I used up the rest of my flour and made sure not to over heat the milk. Another hour later and nothing. At this point I decided that it was the yeast's fault. So I did what anyone would do. I found an easier, no-kneading required recipe and called Luis asking him to pick up the ingredients on his way home from work.

At this point I thought, "Maybe I should just wait until tomorrow," but it was only 10 pm when Luis got home from work and I figured it wasn't too late to start over. So I started with the dough again. With this particular recipe, I had to put the milk and yeast together and then let it cool for an hour, then add the flour and let it sit for another hour. Long story short, at 2 am we finally had cinnamon rolls, and they were well worth the wait.
P.S. I cut the recipe in half, and it still made 4 round pans. So I asked Luis to take one of the pans to his brother and sister-in-law's (they are moving this weekend), and do you know what Luis said? "No, they're mine!"
