size means everything

I just finished reading this article about a British woman who wears a size 16 and wanted to buy a designer dress, but wasn't able to because they don't carry her size. When she asked why they don't carry her size, she was told that women of that size don't buy designer clothes. I'll be honest, this is a problem that makes me so angry that I don't even set foot in a mall if I don't have to. I already know that the clothes I want to wear aren't sold in my size, so why even walk in the store? Does this mean that I don't want to buy a cute dress? Absolutely not. It just means that I would rather be spared the humiliation of walking into a store and having the sales girls look at me up and down with a "we don't have your size" look.

I remember being maybe 12 or 13 years old and going to University Mall with my friend Paola. We walked into Express and both tried on denim jumpers (which were super cute at the time). I grabbed the largest size off the rack. She grabbed the smallest. Hers looked great. Mine barely fit. She tried to remedy the situation by telling me that she wished that hers wasn't so loose, but the damage was done. From that day on, I refused to walk into one of those stores by myself ever again. To this day, I still struggle with my weight. I still feel angry when I have to go shopping (which means that I normally don't go and then just get angry all over again when I feel like I have nothing to wear). And I feel like this is all so unnecessary. Why can't stores just carry a couple of larger sizes?
