groceries

It annoys me when the person working the cash register at the grocery store only puts 1 item into grocery bags. This annoys me so much that when I'm taking my groceries out of the grocery cart and putting them up on the conveyor to be scanned, I always group items based on their type (all the produce goes together, all refrigerated items go together, all boxes go together, etc.) so that this won't happen. I always, always, always leave the bread and the eggs for the end so that they don't get smashed with everything else. But inevitably I always end up coming home with multiple 1-item bags. I don't know why someone would ever think that a small cantaloupe needs its own bag. It is wasteful and bad for the environment. I would love to "go green" and have my own reusable canvas bags to bring to the grocery store, but it just seems like such a hassle to have to make/buy 10-15 canvas bags and then remember to always bring them into the store. But one of these days I'm going to take the plunge and just do it.
