all grown up

This was me as I was walking out the door for my very first day of the first real job I've ever had in my whole entire life. I've never had a full-time job with benefits before. Every job I've ever had has always been just a part-time student gig.

I don't know if you know this, but I've wanted to be a lawyer my whole life. Ever since I was little, anytime anyone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always told them that I wanted to be a lawyer. And it is kind of crazy that I have actually made it. After all of the hard work, after all of the tears, after all of the disappointment, I was finally doing what I had set out to do when I was just a kid. This morning as I was walking in the door to my very own office (it is tiny, but it is mine), I couldn't help but be so grateful for this huge blessing that I was just given.

So my first day went pretty well. I managed only to get lost twice on my way to work and once on my way home (and then once again on my way back home from Walmart). But the people at the firm were great and for the most part I was able to forget about the fact that I miss my husband so so much (up until I talked to him on the phone, and then I cried and cried and cried).
