4-day work weeks

I am an advocate for 4-day work weeks. I would be very willing to work 10-hour days, 4 days per week in order to be able to have one weekday off every week. Instead of having to cram all errands into the 1-hour lunch break most of us get, it would make life so much easier have 1 day each week where you can schedule doctor's and dentist's appointments, go to the bank, go grocery shopping without feeling claustrophobic, and run any other errands that are needed.

Having said this, I am not a fan of the 4-day work week recently started by my department. After coming back into town from our honeymoon, the only thing really exciting about going back to work was the fact that Kari (my former roommate) had been hired as a new attorney and I would get to see her everyday. With this change is schedule, Kari did not come into work today. Not only was Kari not there all day, forcing me to have lunch all by myself, but by 1 PM there were only 2 of us left in the office (there are 10 employees on our legal team). This left me no choice but to leave early myself. Note to self: show up early on Fridays so you can leave when everybody else does.
