Usually about half way through my shift at the library I run to the vending machines for a little pick-me-up. All I wanted was some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. But alas, I guess someone decided to replace the Reese's with Fig Newtons! Who decided this would be a good idea? Who prefers Fig Newtons to Reese's? Who even buys Fig Newtons from vending machines? Who even eats Fig Newtons these days? Did BYU run out of Reese's? Is this some lame attempt at choosing "healthier" options? And why the law school vending machines? Don't they realize that these vending machines are all we have?
So instead of a Reese's, I purchased a blueberry muffin (which I ate bottom first, top last). I'll admit it, I have a "quirky" habit of selectively eating (just ask Luis, it's true). I look at the food on my plate, select which food I like the best, and then I only eat the food I like the best after I've eaten everything else. I do this with everything that I eat. I eat pizza and sandwich crusts first, the middle of burgers last, and I always eat my mashed potatoes before my meat but after my vegetables. I don't even notice that I'm doing this (e.g. one time I was having an Egg McMuffin in the car and Luis asked me if I eat like this all the time, at this point I looked down at my Egg McMuffin and realized that I had taken small bites all the way around the sandwich leaving the middle portion for last). I know, I'm weird. And fyi: the price of muffins at BYU have been raised from 90 cents to $1.00.
