A few weeks ago I decided that we were going to make it a tradition to celebrate 1/2 birthdays (I wish I could take credit for this idea, but I stole it from a stranger's blog). We had already been planning on having Flavio and Niki over for dinner/rock band, so I decided to turn the dinner into a pseudo party for Luis. We invited his siblings over (though only Carolina was able to make it), I made a half cake with half the amount of candles and since no birthday is complete without presents, I had gone to the store earlier in the day to purchase Pushing Daisies and some candy (thankfully I happened to be carrying a purse that was large enough to hide the gifts and, thanks to a great deal at Wal-Mart a few months ago, I already had a bunch of gift bags at home so I didn't need to worry about wrapping the presents). I figured that I shouldn't go too overboard because, after all, it was only a half birthday but he needed something (and at least this present would be something we could enjoy together). Happy 1/2 Birthday, Luis!
