tests and trials

6:30 - I wake up to finish the last of my flash cards and go over my outline one more time before the test

8:20 - Leave the house to take Luis to work and get to the Wilk in time for the test (we had planned on leaving at 8:15 so departure 5 minutes late wasn't too bad).

8:32 - Think to myself (as I'm driving) that I since I'll be on time, I should grab a donut before going into to test. I also realize that I might not have enough money on my student ID to purchase the donut so I make a mental note to grab my debit card before I leave the car (no wallets, purses, etc. were allowed in the test center so I was planning on leaving my purse in the car).

8:40 - Arrive at BYU with enough time to go inside the law school to grab a couple of pencils (we apparently do not have a single pencil at home). I remember to grab my debit card so I could get that donut since I knew my stomach was going to start growling in about 10 minutes.

8:42 - Discover that all of the doors nearest to my car are locked.

8:43 - Run around to the back of the law school to go into the only open door in the entire building.

8:45 - Finally arrive at the Wilk and decide to forgo the donut so that I could make sure I would get to the room with time to spare.

8:48 - I realize that there are enough people still in line that I could still run down to get my donut.

8:50 - Patiently wait in line while a super slow worker asks whether the person in front of me wants her muffin microwaved.

8:55 - Scarf down my donut as I get back to the testing room and pull out my driver's license.

8:56 - I give them testing people my name and driver's license. They look over the list and can't find my name. I look down at the list and realize that I registered using my married name but my driver's license only has my maiden name!!! They ask me if I have anything else with my married name on it. I don't. And then it dawns on me, I have my debit card (which happens to be from the bank account that I share with Luis and which I happened to have put BOTH names on). I was so incredibly lucky because the instructions on this particular test allow them to "use their best judgment" when it came to which forms of ID were acceptable. They were nice enough to let me in.

9:25 - I begin the test after being given extensive instructions.

11:05 - I finish the test. I have no idea whether I've gotten a high enough score to "pass" by Utah standards.

11:20 - I go get pupusas so that Luis and I can have lunch together.

11:40 - I get pulled over for driving with an expired registration. I get a ticket because for some reason I seem to have a tattoo on my forehead that says "Please do not just give me a warning like you would to anyone else, I want a ticket."

12:00 - I hold back tears as I arrive at Luis' work so that we can enjoy our pupusas together.

1:00 - I decide that it's time to go home for a little while and relax... after all, it's been a long day.
