"A stay-at-home mum whose work as a parent and homemaker was valued at $90 a week by a judge [in Australia] has successfully fought the ruling."
A professor sent our family law class this article earlier today. As I read the article, I was appalled that a judge would use a maid's $18/hour wage, multiply it by 5 hours a week and declare that is what at stay-at-home mom is worth! My mom never worked outside of our home, but I can tell you that she worked just as hard (if not harder) than anyone else I know. No value can be placed for someone who spends 24 hours a day/7 days a week caring for all of the physical and emotional needs of a child. I don't think I will ever be able to understand everything that my mom sacrificed for my well-being, but I am eternally grateful for everything she has done (and continues to do) for me.

homemaker's value
