i love our crock pot

I wanted to dedicate this post to the most-used appliance in our home: our crock pot. At the beginning of every week, I make a one-week dinner menu for us (this makes it so that I only have to go buy groceries once a week which makes me happy). This menu generally consists of using our crock pot at least three times each week (these days happen to coincide with the days where we only get home late at night). I love that I can dump a relatively few number of simple ingredients, press the 8-hour cook button (our crock pot has 4 settings: 4-hours, 6-hours, 8-hours and 10-hours), and then when the 8-hours of cooking is over the crock pot automatically goes to the "warmer" function so that the food stays warm but doesn't burn down the apartment. Many of the recipes I have tried thus far have come from a blog by a woman who has pledged to use her crock pot 365 days this year. I am somewhat picky about the recipes that we try (there are a lot of recipes on the blog that don't look appealing at all, but the recipes we have tried have all been really good). They have to use fairly simple ingredients (things that are too complicated tend to intimidate me) and they can't take too long to prepare (I can only spare about 10 minutes in the morning to throw stuff into the crock pot before we leave the house). And then when we get home after school/work/whatever, we just throw some 5-minute rice and some frozen vegetables in the microwave, and TA-DA there you have it, home-cooked dinner for two :)
